After 15years in private practice, Marla had a patient who had recently moved to Detroit from NYC. This new patient stated, "Where is the center of the city? Where do women connect? How will i meet new female friends, everyone is so isolated here?!"
It was then that Marla thought, i'll create a space for women to connect and since 2006, Marla has been facilitating Women's Renewal Retreats in Lexington, Michigan. Retreats are held in a 3600sq ft log cabin home, on the shores of lovely Lake Huron. Ms. Ruhana typically has 20 attendees at each retreat. Retreat themes vary from the Challenges of Mother-Daughter RWomenelationships, Women&Friendship, to The Over-Extended Woman. Ruhana has professional speakers facilitate workshops on issues pertaining to these themes. Ruhana facilitates structured interaction and gets the group cohesive within the first hour of retreat. 5 gourmet meals are prepared by Chef Cathryn, and her assistant waits on attendees all weekend! Yoga and massage also offered at these renewal retreats.
Marla has many repeat attendees and has even begun offering men's retreats and couple's retreats as partners of past attendees have asked Ruhana, "What about us?"
These retreats are intended to ReFresh, ReNew, ReBalance all attendees. Ruhana does point out however, "Everyone attends for their own reasons, meaning each retreat takes on its own unique personality. The retreats are extremely spiritual. It is as if I throw a stone and watch it ripple all weekend! Often attendees shed many toxic layers of their lives at my retreats. Others simply attend for a weekend getaway, each experience is unique to the individual and they get out of the retreat as much as they are willing or capable of putting into it. My purpose and intent is to provide an atomosphere which is safe, relaxing, beautiful to ensure all attendees come away with maybe not exactly what they thought they would, yet something far better...........enlightenment and a sense of rejuvenation from the fast paced world in which we live."
Marla has had women attend her retreats from Florida and California! She has also been asked to host retreats in Virginia, Seattle, and California! Ms. Ruhana is happy to accomodate the needs of all interested attendees either in Michigan or bringing her retreats to you and your group of 20 seeking rejuvenation!
